FISHING
The fishing at Short Ferry comprises of approximately 2 miles of river fishing (the old River Witham and the Barlings Eau) and 4 lakes (Short Ferry Old Marina, Willow Lake, Match Lake & Woodbine Lake).
The rivers and Old Marina are free fishing to patrons and a day ticket system is run on the Lakes. Fishing at Short Ferry is for patrons only, (apart from match lake which is open to the public) and is available all year round.

Match Lake
Our match lake opened early 2013 and has been designed so all the pegs are similar in depth, features etc. to make as fair a lake as possible so every peg has a good chance of winning on its day Although it is called the ‘match’ lake it is open every day for pleasure fishing, except saturdays we hold an open match for anyone to fish. The match lake is stocked with carp roach and bream up to 4lb
We supply you with a landing net to use on this lake when you purchase your day ticket (please note we do not supply landing net poles)

Willow Lake
The jewel in the crown of our fishing – Willow lake is absolutely crammed with fish, with many people telling us they have had their best days fishing ever!
Stocks include thousands of small carp in the 3-6lb region, barbel, crucians, chub, tench, roach, rudd and gudgeon with larger carp up to 20lb+ as well If you are on a limited time on your stay and just want to catch a few fish, Willow lake is the one for you!
NEW FOR 2024! Willow Lake & the old Owl Lake are now joined together to create a new larger lake

Woodbine Lake
A brand new, specimen lake at Short Ferry Caravan Park, Woodbine Lake is stocked
with Carp up to a current lake record of 26lb 10oz which opened August 2014
There are approx. 40 fish with an average size of about 20lb, at the time of writing this (June 2016) 9 different fish have achieved a weight of over 25lb.
There are 11 pegs, but there will be a maximum of 8 anglers on the lake at any one time to allow for plenty of room to fish

You Don’t Need To Bring The Following:
Landing net
Unhooking mat
Weigh sling
We will supply you with a high quality landing net, carp cradle and retainer weigh sling, for which a returnable deposit of £25 will be required.
The Rivers
Running along one side of the park, the Barlings is a well stocked
Lincolnshire drain and has a good stock of Bream, Roach, Perch, Pike
and most other coarse fish.
The Old River Witham is the old course of the Witham and is joined to
the Witham at the top end with a weir, this is prolific in the summer for
small fish, pike and perch with small lures scoring high..
In 2008 the Shortferry River record was broken, by Geoff Kelwick with
a catch of 160lb 8oz of Bream and other catches of
note have been Perch to 4lb 12oz, Pike to over 20lb and several large
bags of Bream
Just recently carp anglers have started to target the rivers and some nice fish have been caught, up to 22lb, though we are aware of sightings and catches of bigger fish nearby.
